Kingston's 1842 Monument to Colonel Light

Kingston’s Colonel Light’s Monument 1842 in Light Square (State Library of SA PRG 280/1/17/88)

Adelaide’s colonial past meets 21st century technology. Computer animator, Liam Gare recreated architectural drawings from original photographs of Kingston’s Gothic monument to Colonel William Light. Artlab’s Objects Conservator, Justin Gare, lovingly reconstructed a 1/10 scale wooden model of the towering edifice which was a prominent feature of Adelaide’s colonial landscape from 1843 to 1905. Justin will talk about the background of the monument and its construction on Friday 24 & 31 May at 5.30pm in the Artlab foyer.
