Discover Adelaide's Destitute Asylum

Destitute Asylum additions (State Records of South Australia, GRG 38/68, Historic Drawing Series, No 279 (1877))

At its height, Adelaide’s Destitute Asylum consisted of over forty buildings housing the elderly and infirm, unmarried mothers, people with disabilities, orphaned or deserted children and girls with criminal convictions. Today, only a few buildings remain. Join curators on a tour of the site and hear some of its stories. Please note: tour involves walking and some steps.
