Discovering Sir Edward C Stirling: The Polymath
Sir Edward C Stirling was born in South Australia in 1848. After some years in England obtaining degrees in the natural sciences and medicine, he returned to Adelaide and contributed to many areas of the colony. As a politician he placed the first motion for women's suffrage in Parliament, was on the University of Adelaide Council, helped form and steer the Adelaide Medical School and was Chair, and then Director, of the South Australian Museum. We'll explore these and many other facets of E C Stirling in this, the centenary of his death.
