Exploring Heritage Building Restoration at Bungaree

Bungaree Homestead is just one of many historic buildings on the property (Nadinne Grace Photography)

Heritage buildings can be regarded as assets or liabilities, and throughout its 177 year history, the beautiful buildings at Bungaree have been seen as both. This informal guided walk around the station complex (including church, woolshed, store, stableyard and Homestead Gardens) will explore how the challenge of restoration and maintenance of heritage-listed buildings has been approached by the Hawker family to ensure their preservation for future generations. Morning tea will be provided, along with a discussion on various restoration issues and heritage trades, from stonemasonry and joinery through to blacksmithing and stained glass conservation.
