Robin Boyd's 'Walkley House' North Adelaide

Robin Boyd's 'Walkley House' North Adelaide (G Downey)

Come with me on a guided tour through the ground floor of Walkley House in North Adelaide. Designed by architect Robin Boyd in 1956, this house is a stunning example of Australian 'international’ Modernism and is rarely accessible to the public.

I am a Research Fellow in Art History at the University of Adelaide and have published widely on the domestic interior. My recent books include: Domestic Interiors: Representing Home from the Victorians to the Moderns (2013), which won the Art Association of Australia and NZ Best Anthology Prize in 2014; and Designing the French Interior, in 2015. No stilettos or small heels please.
