Coulthard House: A History of the Family That Called It Home
This eight-room double-storey stone villa today stands as a lasting tribute to the family that founded the town of Nuriootpa. Within the span of a short life, William Coulthard had established a thriving village while also opening up new lands in the Mid North. It was in search of more grazing land that William died of thirst, leaving a widow, Marion, and seven sons. His only daughter was born six months later. Marion continued to live in Coulthard House until eldest son John turned 21. By then remarried, she had three more children before moving to Hamley Bridge.
