Doreen and John Goodchild: Partners in Life

Girl in Yellow Hat, oil by Doreen Goodchild (Adam Dutkiewicz)

John Goodchild (1898-1980), RSASA Past President (1937-40) and Life Member, was an artist in the First and Second World War. He began his association with the RSASA in 1922. Doreen and John met through the RSASA, later travelled, and studied sketching and painting at the London Central Art School. They returned to Adelaide in 1929 and held joint exhibitions of prints, paintings and ceramics. The monograph One Small Measure: The Life & Art of Doreen Goodchild by Judith Brooks is available from the historic RSASA Gallery. RSASA, founded in 1856, is the longest running Art Society in Australia.
