A History of Partridge House
You have seen and admired lovely Partridge House and its beautiful garden. Come along and find out the history of the house and who fought for it to become a park and centre for the use of the Glenelg community. The land at 38 Partridge Street was purchased in 1839. Built in 1899 by architect Mr. Jackson as a house of 18 rooms and outhouses for Mrs Elinor Varley. It was bought by the Glenelg Council in 1971 after it was threatened with demolition. Since 1977 it has been used as a community facility.
