Buxton of Buxton Street: What's in a Name?

Colonel Light designed the city's street pattern: who named those streets? Why was TF Buxton significant? Who has lived in Buxton Street? How is Buxton known today?

Background talks at former North Adelaide Institute by historian of Behind the Streets of Adelaide, Dr Jeff Nicholas; local historian and Buxton Street resident, Graeme Lange; and recent resident, David Donaldson.

Short walk via Wellington Square, past the former Channel Nine site. Flying Fig Deli – 1870s corner shop – will open specially for our group with snack menu (accessible through rear gate). Questions and conversation until 2pm. Individual strolling as desired down Buxton Street.
