George S Hutton: A Photographic Memory Enlarged

Semaphore Beach, 1950 (George S Hutton)

Exciting new treasures have appeared from the Hutton archives since the 2017 exhibition. These include aspiring filmmaker George’s 1932 silent short movies (plus Semaphore beach and street footage), and portrait and wedding photographs featuring people you may be able to help identify. George Hutton Senior's 1912 Scottish sea chest and studio items enhance the experience. Additional images of ships, places and local businesses, alongside contemporary letters, chronicle the successes and challenges of a Port Adelaide, Semaphore and Largs Bay business spanning six decades. Thanks to a History Trust grant, a Wakefield Press pictorial publication will be available to purchase.
