German Adelaide: Rundle Street

King of Hanover Hotel (State Library of SA)

A leisurely stroll along Rundle Street and Mall identifies numerous German identities and businesses that flourished there in the nineteenth century and longer. This is a very easy two-hour walk that delves into the German influence on this commercial street, with just a touch of humour. Butchers, bakers and umbrella makers! Pubs, schools and houses. All told through the use of images, stories and the occasional salacious anecdote. Guide: Ben Hollister.
